The special plectrums for sarod are made of coconut shell. They come in various sizes and shapes. Many sarod players keep a small collection of various jabas for different parts of their playing. For perfect grip, you can prepare the jaba individually with wax and / or tape.

The ready-to-play Sarod Jaba Premium Bongossi is manufactured in Germany with a CNC milling machine, individually sanded and polished by hand and finally wrapped for a perfect grip. The heavy and dense hardwood bongossi, also known as ironwood, produces a bright, clear and powerful sound.

Mounting a new skin is a difficult job that requires some experience. India Instruments not only offers new skins, but a mounting service as well.

Bridge and saddle blanks are available for sarod. The blanks have to be fitted to the particular instrument to get the best sound. This requires sawed slots for the strings, adjusting the surface curve of the bridge (jowari) and fitting the feet to the top. This work is not included in the price and can be done by India Instruments on request – please check our repairs page for prices.
